Reversibility of heparin inhibition of the antibacterial activity of polymorphonuclear leukocyte lysosomal proteins.

چکیده
Inhibition of antibacterial activity of polymorphonuclear leukocytic lysosomal cationic proteins by a polyanion, heparin, can be reversed by addition of the basic nuclear protein, clupeine.

Anti-heparin activity of lysosomal cationic proteins from polymorphonuclear leukocytes.
C ATIONIC PROTEINS are important constituents of polymorphonuclear ( PMN ) leukocyte lysosomes. These proteins are rich in arginine and lysine. This accounts for their strong electro-positivity.13 These proteins are without apparent enzyme activity; nevertheless they possess a variety of biological activities.1’4#{176} We have recently described an anticoagulant activity of these proteins that ...
متن کاملElectrophoretic Pattern and Antibacterial Activity of Proteins from Vicia Faba Seed Extract
ABSTRACT Background Antibiotic resistance makes antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) agents an alternative for treatment of pathogenic diseases. They are isolated from various animals invertebrates, vertebrates and plants. The present study shows the electrophoretic pattern of protein and peptides from Vicia Faba seed and reports our first attempt to study the antibacterial activity of Vicia faba...
متن کاملThe effect of D-penicillamine on polymorphonuclear leukocyte function.
D-Penicillamine, a reducing and chelating agent used in the treating of rheumatoid arthritis, was tested for its effects of polymorphonuclear leukocyte chemotaxis, phagocytosis, and lysosomal enzymes. beta-Glucuronidase release from polymorphonuclear leukocytes after phagocytosis of latex particles was not affected by D-penicillamine at concentrations ranging from 25 to 400 mg/liter. No direct ...
متن کاملInhibition of leukocyte acid phosphatase by heparin.
For some time we have been concerned with the role of alkaline and acid phosphatases (orthophosphoric monoesten phosphohydrolases, EC 3.1.3.1 and EC 3.1.3.2, respectively) in polymorphonuclear leukocytes, particularly as regards variation in disease states and factors that might regulate the activity within the cell (1-4). Here we demonstrate that relatively small concentrations of heparin prof...
متن کاملMutational analysis of ARSB gene in mucopolysaccharidosis type VI: identification of three novel mutations in Iranian patients
Objective(s): Mucopolysaccharidosis VI (MPS VI) or Maroteaux-Lamy syndrome is a rare metabolic disorder, resulting from the deficient activity of the lysosomal enzyme arylsulfatase B (ARSB). The enzymatic defect of ARSB leads to progressive lysosomal storage disorder and accumulation of glycosaminoglycan (GAG) dermatan sulfate (DS), which causes harmful effects on various organs and tissues an...
